This has to be one of the best shows ever! It's about Thomas Veil [Bruce Greenwood, also excellent in Disturbing Behavior! and I, Robot among others], who had his identity erased by a secret organization, because of a picture he took. His wife Alyson [Megan Gallagher from Millennium, Outer Limits and others] , his friends, and family don't remember him, or admit that they do, and he is trying to find out why this was done to him, and the significance of the photo, as he tries to stop "The Conspiracy" from getting him and his negatives. If you haven't seen it, it has been canceled, but it's finally out on DVD!. If you get the chance, you should definitely watch the show, it's full of mysteries, conspiracies, and excellent plot twists. The acting and writing are just excellent, it's a shame that it was canceled, it's one of my favorite shows. One of the best episodes guest stars Dean Stockwell [from Quantum Leap, The Twilight Zone, Hunter, Battlestar Galactica, The Shadow Men and Beverly Hills Cop II] as another guy running from the same conspiracy. Some great movies with similar themes include They Live [conspiracy], Total Recall [stolen/replaced identity], Conspiracy Theory [conspiracy], and Eraser [erasing identities]. Quantum Leap is one of the best shows I've ever seen, an instant classic and must see!! It's one of my all time favorite shows! It's about a scientist named Sam Becket [Scott Bakula from Enterprise!, Murphy Brown, American Beauty and Lord Of Illusions] who ends up leaping through time. He's assisted by Al [Dean Stockwell from Nowhere Man, The Twilight Zone, Hunter, Battlestar Galactica, The Shadow Men and Beverly Hills Cop II], a hologram from the future who is part of his team, trying to get him back where he belongs. To be honest, most of the episodes are just really good drama, but there are some real standouts. The ones where Sam and Al switch places, the one where Sam leaps into his younger self [The Leap Home], the three episodes with the Evil Leapers, plus the one where Sam leaps to Vietnam to save his brother. This is one of the greatest shows ever on tv! The DVDs of the show are on my list and then I'll have a lot more great Quantum Leap stuff here! I especially recommend season 5 because it has the Evil Leaper episodes. It's just too bad they had to replace some music on the DVDs. The One thing I really really hate about Quantum Leap was the absolutely terrible last show. It was like it was written by someone who never watched an episode. Still, they don't make too many shows like this one anymore, definitely give it a look! The Quantum Leap logo links to Al's Place, a cool fan site. American Gothic ran on CBS during the 1995-96 season. I watched what I could during the original run, but you could tell by the scheduling that the network didn't want anybody watching. The episodes are even out of order on the DVD set! The show is about the small southern town of Trinity and its Sheriff. Kind of an Andy Griffith show, if Andy was evil and had "a little psychic twinkle". Sheriff Lucas Buck [brilliantly played by Gary Cole from Midnight Caller, The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, Wanted, Shark, The West Wing, Cry_Wolf and Office Space], is one of the most evil characters I've seen on TV. He loves to trick people, use their own vices against themselves and set people against each other. His deputy Ben Healy [Nick Searcy from 7 Days, CSI, Castaway and Runaway Jury] sees Lucas's powerful evil in action more than most. He's a good man, just weak of spirit and scared of Lucas Buck's power. The other big power in Trinity, is Lucas Buck's illigitimate son Caleb Temple [Lucas Black from The Flash, Slingblade, the X-Files movie and The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift]. Sheriff Buck was responsible for the deaths of his mother, father and sister. See, Caleb has inherited some of Lucas Buck's unholy powers but has no idea what he can do. The show's pretty much about how Caleb teeters on the brink between light and dark. With Lucas Buck whispering in his ear, and his sister Merlyn's ghost [Sarah Paulson from Law & Order, Jack And Jill and Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip] trying to keep him on the right path. The rest of the cast is cool too, including Paige Turco [from NYPD Blue, The Agency and Rescue Me], Brenda Bakke [from CSI and Tales From The Crypt Presents Demon Knight], Jake Weber [from Pushing Tin, U-571 and the Dawn Of The Dead remake] and John Mese [from Dark Skies and Harsh Realm]. What I really like about the show is it's subtlety, the evil lives under the surface and in the shadows of Trinity. Although, I love when Lucas Buck cut loose with his power sometimes, like when he kneels in a graveyard and summons the soul of the Boston Strangler for example. My absolute favorite episode is "Learning To Crawl", where Lucas resurrects Caleb after he's electrocuted. Then they end up at a remote cabin and get tangled up in a kidnapping scheme gone wrong. Earth 2 is a very cool sci-fi show that ran on NBC for the 94/95 tv season. It's set in a future where most people live on space stations and earth is pretty much a toxic wasteland. A search is put out for a new place to live and a planet is found that's earth-like. There is already life there, but nothing like us, and not centralized or organized at first glance. A colony mission is sent, using cryo tech to make the long journey. The government is a sinister and secretive organization [it's good to see that some things never change]. After a government attempt to destroy the colonists, a group of survivors and some of their gear crash land on this "new earth". The crash site is way off of their planned destination. They gather some vehicles, a robot named Zero and their supplies to head out across the unknown frontier. The cast is absolutely phenominal, including Clancy Brown [from Tales From The Crypt, The Outer Limits, Gargoyles, ER, The Practice, Justice League, Lost, Starship Troopers, The Shawshank Redemption and Highlander], Debrah Farentino [from The Outer Limits, Get Real and Eureka], the very awesome Jessica Steen [from The Pretender, The Outer Limits, Stargate SG-1, Supernatural, Trial & Error and Armageddon], Rebecca Gayheart [from Dead Like Me, Urban Legend, Harvard Man and Santa's Slay], Antonio Sabato Jr.[from The Outer Limits], John Gegenhuber [from Star Trek: Voyager, The Pretender and Seven Days], Sullivan Walker [from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, The Pretender and The Firm], Joey Zimmerman [from The Practice, That 70's Show and Very Bad Things], J. Madison Wright [from ER, The Nanny and Grace Under Fire], Terry O'Quinn [from Star Trek: TNG, Millennium, Harsh Realm, Alias, The West Wing, Lost, Silver Bullet and Tombstone], Tim Curry [from Legend, Stephen King's IT, Dinosaurs, Pirates Of Dark Water, Mighty Max, Gargoyles and Duckman], Kelli Williams [from The Practice] and Rockmond Dunbar [from Prison Break]. The aliens are great and really original. I love how Gaal uses them as his minions. And the future story about Ulysses ruling the Terrians was one of my favorites. College Professor Gus McClain has a great job, a hot wife and an all around good life. Suddenly everything gets turned upside down on him. His wife is dead and he's on the run for multiple murders. It turns out that Gus had a twin brother Booth Hubbard. Booth just found out about his brother and his great life, after living a terrible life of his own. He would just take Gus's great life from him, after all they look identical. But Booth is dying and won't have the time to enjoy it all. So he starts his own version of evening the stakes on his brother. His thoughts are if he can't live Gus's life, Gus will live his. TWO is a very cool combo of the man on the run show [like Nowhere Man and The Pretender], but with the twist of a twin brother serial killer. Michael Easton [from VR5 and Total Recall 2070] plays both brothers excellently! The show really hinges on his abilities as an actor, and he really pulls it off perfectly. Unfortunately, the poor guy mostly does work on soaps now. Since he's constantly on the chase for his brother and from the FBI, the rest of the cast is mostly new guest stars each episode. The only other regular cast members are FBI Agents, Barbara Tyson [from The Outer Limits, The Pretender, John Doe, Jake 2.0, Five Days To Midnight, The 4400, Ernest Goes To Jail and Final Destination], Lochlyn Munro [from Nightmare Cafe, Strange Luck, Sliders, The Outer Limits, The Dead Zone,Jake 2.0, Dead Like Me, Las Vegas, Weeds, Smallville, Needful Things, Dead Man On Campus and Freddy vs. Jason], and Andrew Johnston [from MacGyver, The X-Files, Millennium, The Outer Limits, Seven Days, Stargate SG1, Taken and Traffic]. Some of the great guest stars include Andrew Wheeler [from The Commish, Highlander, Odyssey 5, Battlestar Galactica, The Dead Zone and Saved], Bill Dow [from Seven Days, The X-Files, Dead Like Me, Kyle XY, Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis], and many other BC regulars you see in a lot of shows like Deanna Milligan, Megan Leitch, Blu Mankuma and JR Bourne. As far as I know the original pilot that starred Adam Storke [from Prey and The Stand] as Gus/Booth was turned down by CBS. The reworked pilot with the current cast and story was released for syndication [and on CTV] for the 1996/97 tv season. TWO isn't out on DVD or VHS [that's why these pics aren't that great a quality], but if you ever get the chance to watch an episode, jump on it!
