I'm a big Trek fan, except for the crappy original series of course. Deep Space Nine was a big departure from Trek so far. Instead of antiseptic ships and prime directives, DS9 was gritty and dark. The whole war with The Dominion was awesome, and I also really liked the introduction of the federation's dark side in the form of agent Sloan [William Sadler, also great in Demon Knight and Disturbing Behavior among others]. My favorite character on the show has to be Chief O'Brien, who fit this show much better than TNG. Some of my favorite DS9 episodes are O'Brien ones, like when he kept slipping forward in time [3.17 - Visionary] or when he was sentenced to have the memories of 21 years in prison [4.19 - Hard Time]. Also, the friendship between O'Brien and Bashir is great, they're like the DS9 versions of Data and Geordi. The rest of the cast is great too, like the late addition of Worf [Michael Dorn from TNG], Quark [Armin Shimmerman also cool on Buffy], Weyoun [Jeffrey Combs, also in The Frighteners Re-Animator, The Flash, and Enterprise], Vic Fontane [James Darren from The Time Tunnel], and the very hot Terry Farrell and her later replacement, the very cute Nicole de Boer [great in Cube and The Dead Zone] as Dax. The only character I don't like is Kira [Nana Visitor], I just found anything about her or her home planet real stupid. I think that's the show's biggest flaw, too much political and religious crap about Bejor. But if you can overlook that the series was great! I'm a huge Buck Rogers fan, and watched religiously as a kid. The opening summed up this great show..."The year is 1987 and NASA launches the last of America's deep space probes. In a freak mishap Ranger 3 and its pilot Captain William 'Buck' Rogers are blown out of their trajectory into an orbit which freezes his life support systems and returns Buck Rogers to Earth 500 years later." Gil Gerard is very likeable and just perfect for the role. And with the very hot Wilma Deering [Erin Gray] and Princess Ardala [Pamela Hensley from Matt Houston] around, I'm surprised Buck could get anything done at all. The two seasons of Buck Rogers were totally different from each other. Both were cool, but overall, I liked the first ones better.The good news is that Buck Rogers is finally out on DVD!! The bad news is that the studio didn't involve either Gil Gerard or Erin Gray in the release [not smart]. Either way, I'm just glad to be able to watch some high quality copies of the show! And if you're a fan like me, you should also check out Farscape. It reminds me a lot of Buck Rogers. Oh, and for a hilarious take on the "frozen in time and wakes up in the future" scenario, you've gotta see Futurama! The Buck Rogers logo links to the coolest Buck Rogers site ever! Okay, here's another great Trek series! And of all of them so far, Voyager definitely has the most hard core sci-fi! No, I don't like Janeway, but that still can't ruin such a good show. And no other Trek can match the Borg and time-travel episodes that Voyager had. As well as awesome new villains like the Vidiians, Species 8472, and more! My absolute favorite Trek episode is a great time-travel episode [5.06 - Timeless], but there are many other excellent episodes. Like the one where Tuvok and Nelix became one person in a transporter accident [2.24 - Tuvix], the mind-blowing 2 part Year of Hell featuring Kurtwood Smith [Red from That 70's Show] as a man obsessed with changing time [4.08-4.09 - Year of Hell Part 1 and Part 2], the super advanced Borg drone accidentally created from the Doctor's holo-emitter and Seven's nano-probes [5.02 - Drone], or Voyager's amazing encounter with a Federation Timeship from the far future featuring Bruce McGill [from Quantum Leap, MacGyver and Timecop] as the captain in [5.24 - Relativity], among many others! The cast is great too, My favorite character is Harry Kim [Garrett Wang], but I also like Neelix [Ethan Phillips from Benson], Seven Of Nine [Jeri Ryan from Boston Public and Shark], and Tuvok [Tim Russ]. Now the entire Voyager series is finally out on DVD! Wow, how do I describe Wonder Years? Well, it's a simple story of a boy growing up. But that's not a good enough description. As a matter of fact, you'd have to see an episode to understand how good this show really is! It's nostalgia, distilled as pure as it gets and broadcast half an hour at a time. It's the kind of show that makes you love the antics that go on as much as the crazy antics from your own childhood. I especially love Dan Lauria as Kevin's [Fred Savage, later on Working] dad, and Jason Hervey as his bullying older brother Wayne. Oh, there were other cool minor characters like Ben Stein [from Win Ben Stein's Money] and Robert Picardo [the doctor on Voyager] as teachers, and even a young David Schwimmer [Ross from Friends] as the sister's hippy boyfriend! As a fan of Wonder Years, and Fred Savage, I was excited when I saw the first commercials for this new show. It's about Matt Peyser [Fred Savage] who just got a job at a big company [it never says what they do]. His boss is the inventor of slacking off, and all of his co workers have their own special quirks. Steve Hytner [Banya from Seinfeld, and appeared in The Prophecy movie series] was great on the show, and Danica McKellar [Winnie from The Wonder Years] even appeared as the boss's hot daughter. In one episode, Matt was scolded for doing too much work and making the rest of the staff look bad. The show had a very surreal quality, that really enhanced it's atmosphere. It was a VERY PHENOMINAL SHOW, so you should kick yourself if you missed it, because it's canceled. The first season was the best, I didn't like the cast change that they did later on. If you can catch this in reruns somewhere, make sure you do, it rocks!
