Night Court is one of the funniest shows ever made. It's about a zany night shift at a New York courthouse, and the show never worried about getting too wacky or surreal. Night Court had 9 great seasons and lots of cast member changes. It stars Harry Anderson [from Cheers, Dave's World and Stephen King's IT], John Larroquette [from The Practice, The John Larroquette Show, Joey, Summer Rental, Blind Date, and Demon Knight], Richard Moll [from Mighty Max, Batman TAS and The Sword and the Sorcerer] among others. Most people remember Markie Post [from The Fall Guy, Buck Rogers and Matt Houston] as public defender Christine Sullivan, but I actually liked Ellen Foley better as Billie Young in season 2. I love all the characters, but towering bailiff Bull Shannon is my favorite. Night Court is kind of like The Simpsons in that it has a diverse cast of awesome background characters. There's Yakov Smirnoff [from What A Country, Brewster's Millions and The Money Pit] as Yakov Korolenko, Mike Finneran as Art the handyman, Karen Austin [from Summer Rental] as Lana Wagner the court clerk before Mac came along, John Astin [from The Addams Family, Eerie Indiana and Duckman] as Buddy Ryan, Will Utay [from Nowhere Man and Enterprise] as Dan's homeless lackey Phil, Terry Kiser [from WKRP In Cincinnati, Automan, Manimal and Weekend at Bernie's] as sleazy reporter Al Craven, Ray Abruzzo [from L.A. Law, The Practice and The Sopranos] as Tony Giuliano, Ron Ross as Dirk the spare bailiff, plus many others! One of the funniest scenes I've ever seen on tv was in an episode of Night Court. Harry's missing and somebody comes to have him sign some papers. Dan poses as Harry and uses Mac's hands to sign the paper. It'll put you in tears it's so funny. You gotta love this show! And now Night Court is out on DVD! There are almost no links to anything related to Night Court. The first couple of seasons of Andromeda were great! Unfortunately the quality went downhill in later seasons. It stars Kevin Sorbo [from Hercules The Legendary Journeys] as Dylan Hunt , captain of a powerful starship that's been frozen in time for 300 years by a black hole. He's rescued by a salvage team who eventually become his new crew. Things have changed a lot since his time, and he sets out to rebuild the giant Commonwealth that he was once a part of. The rest of the cast is great too, and includes Lisa Ryder [from Jason X] as Beka Valentine ace slipstream pilot, Gordon Woolvett [from Bride of Chucky] as Seamus Harper the master engineer, Lexa Doig [from Stargate SG-1 and Jason X] as Rommie the ship's artificial intelligence, the very hot Laura Bertram as Trance Gemini the most interesting and mysterious character on the show, Brent Stait as Rev Bem the monster turned holy man, and Keith Hamilton Cobb as Tyr Anasazi the ultimate perfectionist. The show has Gene Roddenberry's name on it but it's only based on a few of his concepts, it's not like trek at all. But they do have a group of bad guys that are as formidable as the borg, The Magog are a race of bloodthirsty monsters who's larvae are implanted in their victims to mature and eventually break out of and devour the host. They're led by a mysterious and powerful figure of flame. The show can be amazing, so see it if you get the chance, especially the early episodes! Brent Stait [who plays Rev Bem] left the show to get away from all the prosthetics and makeup needed for his Magog character. Keith Hamilton Cobb [who played Tyr Anasazi] apparently left due to low quality writing, because by then the show was really a mess. I think the downfall of this cool show really started when head writer Robert Hewitt Wolfe left after season 2. The show still had some good episodes but it was slowly losing it's storyline cohesiveness. It's just my opinion, but I think if Robert Hewitt Wolfe had stayed, they show's full run would all have the same quality. Farscape's another great sci-fi show, but it's not really like anything else and that's what makes it so cool. The writing and production design are really really unique. It's about earth astronaut John Crighton (Ben Browder) who accidentally gets transported to a far corner of the universe by a wormhole. He ends up on a living ship with a crew full of escaped convicts. That was how the show started, and since then they've had a ton of really far out adventures. They've lost some people and picked up others along the way, but the show maintains its originality. What I really like is that the storylines are always a surprise. In season 3, Crighton was copied and the show followed the separate adventures of both for a while. That's just one example of the original thinking behind the scenes of this great show. The whole series is on DVD now, so we can enjoy it all. The show's been canceled, but there was a new Farscape Movie [Watch The Trailer] that kicked ass, and new webisodes so the show's not completely dead. Off Centre is absolutely my favorite sitcom! At first, it looks like another Friends ripoff, but it's a lot more. It's about roomates in New York, but that's just about the only similarity. The roomates are an american doofus named Mike [Eddie Kaye Thomas from Til Death and the American Pie movies], and his successful british buddy Euan [Sean Maguire from The Class]. The rest of the cast includes Mike's cute and quirky girlfriend Liz [Lauren Stamile], Mike and Euan's far out buddy Chau [John Cho from American Pie 2], and their neighbor, famous gangsta rapper Status Quo [Jason George from Roswell, Jeremiah, Friends and Stargate SG-1]. My favorite character is definitely the wacky Chau, he's a riot. The show's a lot edgier than most sitcoms too. Like one episode where the boys find Liz on one of those "Girls Gone Wild" videos, and the time Chau slept on their couch and the guys concluded he was "at his liesure" with himself as Euan put it. What a riot! The show was on the WB, but sadly it's canceled now. I was worried it would be killed after the first season, then I was happy there was a season 2, but it got cut half way through. It's really too bad, it was such a great show. The first episode I saw was the one where everyone caught the crabs and they were trying to track it back to the original source. It was so funny, I was immediately sold on the show! See this one if you have the chance! Trust me. There are almost no links for Off Centre out there. As you can probably tell from the movie section, I'm a huge Stephen King fan. Well, the new Dead Zone series is based on one of his best books! It's about a teacher named Johnny Smith [Anthony Michael Hall who also played Bill Gates in the awesome Pirates of Silicon Valley] who gets into a terrible car accident and ends up in a coma. When he finally comes out of it, he has the power of second sight when he touches people or objects. To complicate things, Sarah [played by Nicole de Boer from Star Trek: DS9 and Cube], the love of his life had their son but had to move on with her life and married the town sheriff [Chris Bruno]. The special effects are excellent and are only used to enhance the story. It's really interesting to see where the show will go next. So far, Johnny has served on a jury, saved a hockey player's life, reunited long lost lovers and helped capture a serial killer among other things. More recent episodes have had big cuts in the cast but surprisingly the show has stayed cool even without some of my favorite characters.
