Wow, I'm a big sci-fi fan [as you can tell from what's on the site], but I've never seen a show like Odyssey 5. When it comes to sci-fi tv, there's Odyssey 5 and then there's everything else. Manny Coto is a genius! The show's about 5 astronauts who are in orbit when the earth is destroyed. They're rescued by an alien being called The Seeker, who sends their minds back in time 5 years to find out what destroyed the planet. The cast is amazing, and includes Peter Weller [also excellent in Robocop, Screamers, and Naked Lunch], Christopher Gorham [great in Jake 2.0], Sebastian Roché, Leslie Silva, and Tamara Craig Thomas. They're all fantastic, and I especially like Sebastian Roché's great character Kurt Mandel. The really great thing about Odyssey 5 is that it doesn't water down the sci-fi, it's hard core sci-fi all the way! The show is full of cool stuff like artificial intelligence "Sentients" and their artificial human servants the "Synthetics", mind control, secret government agencies with their own agendas, drugs that give you psychic powers, and a lot more. And while they try to stop all that stuff, they're trying to steer their personal lives around the bad things that they know are coming in the next 5 years. Odyssey 5 is really the perfect example of how great sci-fi can really be! The show ran on Showtime for one season and got the axe, I really really miss it. The DVD Set has a cool commentary track on the pilot episode that gives away some of the places the show was headed. Of every great show that's been canceled before it's time, this one really deserves to continue or at least properly end it's story. Every sci-fi fan needs to watch Odyssey 5! Las Vegas is still a cool show after all this time and many cast changes. It has lots of action and mystery, plus some of the hottest women on tv! To me, it seems like a cross between Fastlane and CSI. First of all, there's a ton of flash, action and hot girls, plus, they're always trying to figure something out or stop something. It's really great! James Caan [from Eraser], Nikki Cox [gallery, wow!], and Marsha Thomason [from Black Knight] unfortunately left the show, but surprisingly the show has stayed pretty cool. Josh Duhamel, James Leisure, Molly Sims, the very hot Vanessa Marcil [gallery], and newcomers Tom Selleck [from Friends and Magnum P.I.] and the very hot Camille Guaty [from Prison Break and The Nine] are the staff of a big Vegas casino. They brought in the eerily skinny Lara Flynn Boyle [from The Practice], but smartly killed her terrible character off. The show always has great guest stars, like Vincent Ventresca and Paul Ben-Victor [from The Invisible Man], Sean Astin [great in Jeremiah, 24 and The Lord of the Rings movies], Penn & Teller [their show Bullshit is a must-see!], Harland Williams [awesome in Half Baked and Rocketman], Christian Kane [from Angel], and many others! This show has really picked up the bar that Fox dropped when they killed Fastlane. The latest episodes aren't quite as good as the earlier ones, but it's still a really great show. It's just starting to annoy me a bit how they're integrating commercials into the show so much. I know it helps pay for the show, but enough is enough. Las Vegas is a hit for NBC which should keep it around for a while. Don't miss Las Vegas, or you're missing out. Alias is a great action/spy show. It stars Jennifer Garner [from 13 Going On 30 and Elektra] as Sidney Bristow, a top government field agent. Basically, when they need to get something done, she's the one who does it. Garner is great as a spy and pulls off all the action and disguises excellently. The show is full of espionage, intrigue, action, artifacts and prophecies. Plus the show has completely reinvented itself quite a few times to stay fresh. Along the way, Sidney's best friend Francie [Merrin Dungey from King of Queens] was even killed and replaced with a lookalike assassin, and great director David Cronenberg [acted in Nightbreed, directed Scanners and The Fly among others] even appeared in a couple of episodes, as did horror great Angus Scrimm [The Tall Man from the Phantasm series!]. The rest of the cast is great too, and includes Michael Vartan, the great Ron Rifkin [from Brothers & Sisters and The Negotiator], Carl Lumbly [voice of The Martian Manhunter on Justice League!], Kevin Weisman [from Moonlight and Chuck] and Victor Garber among others. Unfortunately, this kind of coolness can't last forever. Season 5 was terrible to the point that I quit watching Alias altogether. The show ended with the fifth season, but it went one season too long. Still, the first four seasons of Alias are some of the best, most action packed TV episodes around. Don't let the last crappy season fool you, Alias is really great but you just have to dig back a bit. Looking for a show that'll give you a new way to look at tv. Dead Like Me is definitely that show! Unfortunately Showtime has cancelled it and the cast has moved on. The jackass responsible even admitted he hadn't even watched the show. It's about Georgia "George" Lass [Ellen Muth], a girl who's indifferent about her life until fate pulls it out from underneath her. Suddenly she's undead, and it's her cosmic job to play the part of a Grim Reaper and take the souls of those about to die. The real kicker is that the afterlife is nothing like she thought, and she even has to get a part time job to live on. There's nothing like this show, you really have to see it to understand it's charm. Mandy Patinkin [from Criminal Minds and The Princess Bride] is perfect as her "cog in the wheel" boss who only knows what he has to do his job, which is to hand out the names of their customers that day. The other reapers are cool and include Rebecca Gayheart [from Earth 2 and Urban Legend], Callum Blue, Jasmine Guy, Laura Harris [also cool in The Faculty, 24, The Dead Zone, The Outer Limits and Women's Murder Club]. And the way the Reapers always meet at the waffle house reminds me of how the gang from Odyssey 5 meets in the diner. Every episode was absolutely fantastic, and you're really missing something if you don't check it out. I used to watch Letterman when he was on after Jay, but when he left NBC and Conan took over Late Night I didn't think much of the show. Then after a while Conan [and Andy] eventually made a better show than Letterman ever had! I've seen some of the most surreal tv moments in Conan and Andy's staring contests. And Bill Clinton "on the satellite feed" was one of my favorite tv characters. What other show would have Frankenstein's Monster wasting a minute of your time by showing you something totally insignificant that he found in some obscure corner of the building! I love it! Conan's definitely funny and he always has a ball doing the show no matter who his guests are. My favorite Conan guests are Jon Lovitz, Caroline Ray, Ice-T, and Jarod with his crazy animals. A night with any of those guys is a must see. And it's not them as much as it's how they get along with Conan. It's really a great show, and it's definitely worth seeing to me, even though it starts at 1:30am here in Nova Scotia. Some of the funniest stuff has been Andy Richter stuff, and it was too bad he left. Andy Richter Controls The Universe and Andy Barker P.I. were cool and funny, but networks just don't give anything a chance anymore. The poor guy just can't get a gig as good as Late Night, he should really consider going back to Conan! A while ago, Jay Leno announced that Conan's officially getting The Tonight Show after him! It's good to know that Conan will still be on the air for a long time.
