After the totally excellent Odyssey 5 was canceled after one season, Christopher Gorham [who was cool on Odyssey 5] got this cool sci-fi series. He plays Jake Foley, a tech who has an accident and ends up becoming a super agent for the NSA. The accident fills his body with tiny nanite computers. So he's faster, stronger and can interface with computers. It's like an updated version of the old Six Million Dollar Man. Lee Majors even makes a cool appearance in one episode. The show's extremely well written and the whole cast is really great! The very hot Keegan Connor Tracy [from 7 Days, The 4400 and Final Destination 2] is really cool as Jake's doctor! I think the show was really getting even better, and one of the best episodes I saw was one of the last three that UPN didn't even show [they only aired in the UK last I heard]. Unfortunately for sci-fi fans, Jake 2.0 was canceled after one season, and Christopher Gorham went on to the mediocre Medical Investigation, then Out Of Practice, then Ugly Betty. I think that both Jake 2.0 and Odyssey 5 could've had huge runs if fans were just given a chance to find them. Anyway, the show has lots of action, intrigue and cool sci-fi tech too. The cool new show Chuck is a lot like Jake 2.0 but with more comedy, check that show out if you're a fan of this one. And if Jake 2.0 is ever on where you live, or comes out on DVD, definitely give it a look!! I think that all shows should be more like The Sopranos. It really is fantastic entertainment. There's tons of sex, violence and everything else tv needs more of! It stars James Gandolfini [excellent in Fallen] as Tony Soprano, head of the Soprano Family in more ways than one. As a matter of fact, I saw Fallen first and decided to check out The Sopranos because he was in it. Tony and his boys are running a lot of illegal operations, as well as threats, beatings and murders. The rest of the cast, Dr Melfi [Lorraine Bracco from Hackers], Carmela Soprano [Edie Falco], Paulie Walnuts [Tony Sirico], Meadow Soprano [Jamie-Lynn Sigler], Tony B [Steve Buscemi from Con Air, Reservoir Dogs and The Big Lebowski] and others are all great! My favorite episodes are the many where somebody gets clipped, especially when they killed main characters like Big Pussy Bonpensiero, Tony Blundetto, and Adriana La Cerva. The show's also about how Tony is plagued by stress and panic attacks because of his lifestyle. And how he's trying to keep his kids on the right track and keep his marriage together. Sure, it's a gritty and violent show, but it's a gritty subject and this is definitely the way to go. The only drawback to the show was the long wait between seasons, which I think made the last season not as good as the rest. This series proved that the head of the Trek franchise, Rick Berman, is a complete asshole. After he and his slack jawed cronies kept the show half full of generic trek filler injected into recycled Dragnet and Gunsmoke scripts, he has the nerve to say the franchise needs a rest. There were cool episodes scattered through the first 3 seasons, but it's Manny Coto's season 4 that really showed what Enterprise should be! Manny Coto is the genius behind my favorite sci-fi show of all time, Odyssey 5. Unfortunately, by the time he turned the show around it was too late. My absolute favorite Enterprise story is the two part "In A Mirror Darkly". Those are two of the best trek episodes ever! Scott Bakula [from Quantum Leap] is really great as Captain Archer. The rest of the cast is great too, including John Billingsley [from The Others, Stargate SG1 and Cold Case], Dominic Keating, Anthony Montgomery, Jolene Blalock [from SG1], Connor Trinneer, the super hot Linda Park as Ensign Hoshi Sato, and Jeffrey Combs [from DS9, Babylon 5, The Flash, The 4400, The Re-Animator movies, The Frighteners, and House On Haunted Hill] as Shran. I really think that if it wasn't for the damage the old guard had done, Manny Coto could've kept Enterprise going for a long time. There was nothing wrong with the show or the concept, except for the burnt out writers who forgot it was supposed to be sci-fi. The show's out on DVD now, and I really only give my highest recommendation for season 4. Just don't expect much from Rick Berman's piece of crap last episode, it's probably the worst Star Trek episode ever. Still Standing makes me laugh every time I see it. It's about the home life of the Miller Family. The core of the show is Bill, the hilarious head of the family. He's played perfectly by the outrageously talented Mark Addy [from Down To Earth, The Full Monty, A Knight's Tale, and the remake of The Time Machine]. Bill's lazy, forgetful and full of funny one liners. He reminds me a lot of Earl Sinclair from Jim Henson's Dinosaurs. He and his wife Judy [Jami Gertz from The Lost Boys and ER season 3] are constantly holding onto the 80's to the horror of their older children. The kids are great on this show too and include Taylor Ball as Brian, Renee Olstead [from End of Days and 13 Going On 30] as Lauren, and Soleil Borda as Tina. Sadly, this great sitcom has run it's course. You could tell by the last few episodes that they were just burning them off. Now I'm just hoping we see DVD releases soon! I've been a fan of Stargate SG-1 since the start. It's one of the best and longest running sci-fi shows going, and now there's the new spinoff Stargate Atlantis. So far, Atlantis has been one of the best sci-fi series ever. It's about a team from earth who take a possibly one way trip through the stargate system to another galaxy. The cast is great and includes Torri Higginson as Dr. Weir, Joe Flanigan as John Sheppard, the very hot Rachel Luttrell [from Impostor] as Teyla, Rainbow Francks as Lt. Ford and David Hewlett [from Cube, Pin, Foolproof and Stargate SG-1] as Rodney McKay. The only casting problem I have is Dr. Weir. I can't say I like Torri Higginson in the role. Jessica Steen [from Earth 2, The Outer Limits and Trial & Error] played the character first on SG-1, but didn't end up on Atlantis. I think she was better for the part. The team is trying to find ancient technology while fighting the Wraith scourge in the pegasus galaxy. Stargate Atlantis has really turned out better than I thought it would. It's in it's second season which is going great, and it looks like it should have a long run. It's ratings are great for the U.S. Sci-Fi Network, that should keep it around for a while. I'm not crazy about Ford getting pushed into the background, and I'm no fan of the new guy they just added to the cast either. Still, I think Stargate Atlantis is one of the best currently running sci-fi series going right now. So don't miss it if you can help it!
