Dexter is such a different show from whatever else you've been watching. It runs on Showtime in the states, and it's so well written and acted you won't believe how good it is.  The show is all about police blood spatter expert Dexter Morgan [Michael C. Hall from Six Feet Under and Paycheck], who also happens to be a serial killer. The thing is that he uses a code of conduct given to him by his adopted father Harry [James Remar from Tales From The Crypt, The X-Files, Third Watch, Jericho and The Girl Next Door]. He only kills confirmed serial killers. The narration is great and really lets you into Dexter's head. The whole first season mainly deals with the Ice Truck Killer and Dexter trying to find their connection. I love how only Doakes [Erik King from Stephen King's Golden Years, Kindred The Embraced, Oz, Desperate Measures and National Treasure] suspects anything about Dexter in a whole building full of cops. It doesn't matter what kind of person you are, watch Dexter and it'll have you rooting for a serial killer! The rest of the cast is great too, including the very hot Julie Benz   [from Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, Roswell, Taken, Supernatural and CSI Miami], Jennifer Carpenter [from The Exorcism of Emily Rose], David Zayas [from Third Watch, Oz, Law & Order and Bringing Out The Dead], Lauren Vélez [from The Pretender, Oz and Wanted], C.S. Lee [from Spin City, Law & Order, Ed and The Sopranos], Christian Camargo [from Wanted], Dominic Janes [from Crossing Jordan, ER and Wild Hogs] and Mark Pellegrino [from Hunter, The Commish, Brimstone, The Practice, The Unit, National Treasure and The Big Lebowski]. I look forward to more Dexter and hope they don't make too many changes to this great show. Don't miss Dexter, you'll kick yourself for it later. Torchwood is a great show about a team who battles the paranormal, extradimensional and technological things that threaten earth in the world of Doctor Who. Torchwood is a Doctor Who spinoff, and even features Captain Jack Harkness   [John Barrowman] who first appeared alongside the Christopher Eccleston Doctor and Rose Tyler. He runs Torchwood, trying to steer the earth through the trouble he knows is coming because he's from the future. Run a lot like a Men In Black, X-Files, Supernatural or Threshold kind of team, they've tangled with dimensional rifts, resurrection, a hot but evil female cyborg, demonic Faeries, aliens and their technology, time vortexes and the mysterious monsters they call Weevils. It's a british show, so it has short 13 episode seasons, but the show is almost completely great episodes so far. The rest of the cast is cool too, including Eve Myles, Burn Gorman [from Layer Cake],  Naoko Mori [did a cameo in Hackers], Gareth David-Lloyd, Kai Owen, Indira Varma and Caroline Chikezie [from Aeon Flux]. Even though Torchwood is set in Dr. Who's world, creator Russell T. Davies said he won't bring The Doctor into Torchwood. Something about the shows being for different audiences. I don't know about that but I like them both. My favorite episodes so far are the ones with that great resurrection glove! As somebody who doesn't believe in an afterlife, I find those episodes really cool! Especially how the resurrected say there's nothing after this life, that's creepy. For a TV budget, they have some very cool monsters and effects on the show too! Torchwood so far is a great mix of sci-fi, supernatural and paranormal coolness. I'll admit that as a rule I really don't like british TV. So far though, Russel T Davies is over there building a Joss Whedon-like franchise in scope and quality! Saved is absolutely one of the coolest emergency rescue shows I've ever seen! And as I'm adding it here I find out there will be no second season. That's pretty depressing, I really love the show!  Saved follows emergency response workers through their daily jobs and lives. The show stars Tom Everett Scott [from Grace Under Fire, ER, Dead Man On Campus, An American Werewolf In Paris and Boiler Room] as Wyatt Cole, a med school dropout who's life is kind of a mess. His father [David Clennon from The Agency, LAX, WKRP In Cincinnati, The Thing and Matinee] is an important surgeon who constantly pushes Wyatt to go back to medical school. Plus, Wyatt has a complicated old relationship with one of the doctors [the very hot Elizabeth Reaser from Standoff, Law & Order: CI, The Sopranos and Stay]. The rest of the cast is phenominal, including Omari Hardwick [from Crossing Jordan and The Guardian], Tracy Vilar [from CSI, ER and Double Jeopardy], Michael McMillian   [from Sliders, 8 Simple Rules and The Hills Have Eyes II], Brian George [from Doctor Doctor, Seinfeld, Lloyd In Space, Justice League, The 4400 and Employee Of The Month], Andrew Airlie [from Two, The Outer Limits, Stargate SG1, The 4400, Eureka, Final Destination 2 and The Butterfly Effect 2], Jeanette Brox [from The Practice, Boston Public, Crossing Jordan and Brothers & Sisters] and Kimberley Warnat [from Millennium, Andromeda and The Outer Limits]. I'm no paramedic [although you can request CPR ladies!], but Saved looks like a pretty good look at what the job is like to me. Happy Hour is my favorite new comedy, and one of the best shows from the 2006 season! Unfortunately, Fox axed the show after only four episodes. I absolutely loved the show right from the opening scene of the first episode.  Happy Hour is the closest I've seen a sitcom come to the mighty Off Centre, no wonder it rules! Lex Medlin [from Still Standing, Titus and Friends] as Larry Cone, a very easygoing guy who runs a t-shirt website and drinks all day. His old roomate Brad [Nat Faxon from Joey] moved out to live with his super domineering girlfriend Tina [Jamie Denbo]. So now Henry [John Sloan from The Triangle and The Unit] wants to move in because his super hot girlfriend Heather [Brooke D'Orsay from Corner Gas, Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle and King's Ransom] just broke up with him. Also great and very funny on the show is the last member of their group Amanda [Beth Lacke from ER and How I Met Your Mother]. In the first episode Larry gets Henry chilling out and drinking during the day like the rest of them, Henry has a one night stand with Amanda, we see how Larry and Tina hate each other, plus "old Brad" and "new Brad" meet. The second episode is all about Larry's rules of dating, and features Brad with a faux-hawk,  and Larry with a plaid picnic backpack. The third show is Larry's birthday and the camping trip to the roof. And the final aired episode is about Brad and Tina's engagement, Amanda making a guy jealous and Henry giving it another shot with Heather. All four episodes are awesome, and it really shows that if the first few shows were this good things could be even better once the show got it's bearings. Too bad that won't happen, I really would've loved to see like ten seasons of Happy Hour made. As far as wikipedia knows there are 9 unaired episodes made too, so maybe there's hope they'll be streamed online or out on DVD. I wasn't sure about Heroes at first because it started off really slow. But once it got going, it's one of the best shows on network tv right now! It's about a group of people all over the world who are gaining axtraordinary abilities, including invisibility,  regeneration, flight, mind reading, time travel, precognition, suggestion, telekinesis and more! The cast is giant and phenominal, including Masi Oka [from Still Standing, The Loop and Studio 60], the super hot Hayden Panettiere [from Malcolm in the Middle and Law & Order: SVU], Ali Larter [from House On Haunted Hill, Final Destination, Final Destination II and Legally Blonde], Adrian Pasdar [from Mysterious Ways, The Outer Limits and Near Dark], Greg Grunberg [from Alias, Lost and The Dead Zone], Clea DuVall [from Buffy The Vampire Slayer, ER, The Astronaut's Wife and The Faculty], Christopher Eccleston [from Doctor Who, 28 Days Later, eXistenZ and Gone In 60 Seconds], Erick Avari [from Stargate SG1, Stargate and The X-Files], Elizabeth Lackey from Just Cause, CSI Miami and The Pretender], Nora Zehetner [from Off Centre], Jack Coleman [from Special Unit 2 and Entourage], Milo Ventimiglia [from Cursed and Rocky Balboa],  Sendhil Ramamurthy, Noah Gray-Cabey [from CSI Miami], James Kyson Lee [from Heist, Las Vegas and The West Wing], Jimmy Jean-Louis [from Fastlane], Santiago Cabrera, Tawny Cypress [from Third Watch and Love Monkey], Thomas Dekker [from Seinfeld, Star Trek: Voyager, Shark, The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Village Of The Damned], Leonard Roberts [from Buffy The Vampire Slayer, CSI Miami, 24, Smallville and Hoodlum], Zachary Quinto [from The Others, Off Centre, 24 and Crossing Jordan], Cristine Rose [from The Wonder Years, Night Court, Grace Under Fire, Saved and How I Met Your Mother], Stacy Haiduk [from Kindred: The Embraced and Brimstone] and Rena Sofer [from Timecop, Spin City, Ed, The Chronicle and 24]. With such a huge cast you'd think it would get confusing or your favorite hero wouldn't get enough screen time, but somehow they balance it perfectly!  Aside from the obviously super hot cheerleader Claire, my favorite character so far is Christopher Eccleston's invisible man. I like how the characters meet and work together more and more, I hope it gets to be something like the Justice League eventually. And we already have some great villains appearing like Mr. Bennet and his secret organization, Sylar on his hunting spree and Niki's evil side Jessica.
